tumbling the gradients
2022 Size: 30cm x 43cm Edition: 30 Stock: Southbank Smooth 160gsm Process: Letterpress This print was created while artist-in-residence at Bradford School of Art's print studio as part of the Artists Access to Art Colleges scheme. It is the seventh iteration of the Typographic Landscape series, considering how experience of place can be represented using the materials of typography and letterpress printing. This print was unusual in that it was made across several weeks (a day per week), rather than in a single concentrated timeframe. The change in process allowed me to build the print up in greater density than previous iterations but the actual time spent was similar. I think the density of the final piece is also a reflection of the city itself - the layers, the vibrancy and the chaotic/poorly planned nature of English city development in the last few decades. Thank you to technician Helen Wood for her invaluable help during the residency. |
