the stone remembers
2022 Size: 30cm x 42cm Edition: 30 Stock: Southbank Smooth 160gsm Process: Letterpress This print was created at Vingaards Officin, a working print museum ("bogtrykmuseet") in Viborg, Denmark over a few long days in Spring 2022, after I'd travelled to show my work at Malmö Artist Book Biennale. It is the sixth iteration of the Typographic Landscape series, considering how experience of place can be represented using the materials of typography and letterpress printing. I visited the museum in 2019 while I was researching the Nordic Summer University commission in Copenhagen. Because it's a working/living museum, there was the opportunity to return for a longer visit, to print and to better connect with the area and the people who run the museum, all of whom worked in the print trade. The final print is something of a tribute to those people, and an exploration of the journey to the museum, across the water courses and countryside of Denmark, away from the cities, towards a remarkable place. Thank you to Ebbe and Bent (below right image) for all their support. |
