To Bring This Momentum
Hyde Park Art Club, Leeds, UK 17th January to 18th February 2024 ‘To bring this momentum’ is an installation of large-format analogue prints, twenty in total, printed on both sides, hung in pairs, each one 64cm x 42cm. The work explores the movement and interaction of human bodies in physical space, incorporating typographical letterpress printmaking and choreographed dance. I collaborated with dance/movement artist Gerry Turvey who created a performance (with dancer Vanessa Grasse) in response to the installation. This was performed twice at the exhibition launch on 17th January. The exhibition was accompanied by a workshop series for local residents and community organisations. We would like to present the work in other venues. Please make contact if you're interested. With thanks to: Hyde Park Art Club, Hyde Park Book Club, to Gerry and Vanessa for their beautiful work and to Leeds Inspired for funding the performance and workshop series. |
Hyde Park Art Club also co-produced a publication to accompany the exhibition. This comprised details of the installation prints, overlaid against each other, with accompanying texts. It was digitally printed with a letterpress spot-printed cover and centre-spread comprised of battered furniture, bumped up to type high and printed on my Eickhoff 1BS press. I have a few copies left - contact me if you'd like one.
